Natural Stone Flooring in Esher

Supplied and Fitted by One Firm

A natural stone floor in Esher usually begins with one question: which stone? Stone Classics Ltd both supplies and fits, so the advice and the installation come from the same people. We are a small, independent company with over 25 years of experience.

Most projects run in the same order: choosing the limestone, fitting it, then looking after it.

Stone Supplier in Esher: the Timeless Stone Collection

As a stone supplier we hold our own range of limestone flooring, the Timeless Stone Collection. It comes in four broad finishes. Aged stones have a worn, settled look. Tumbled stones have softened edges. Textured stones have a surface you can feel underfoot, and smooth stones give a calm, even floor.

Two examples show the spread. Sandown has warm fossil tones, rustic edges and a lightly textured finish. Epsom is paler, in neutral shades with a tumbled edge. The whole range, with a brochure, is on our stone supply page.

Samples at Home

Stone looks different in every room, so we bring samples to your house. You can put them down where the floor will go and see them beside your units, walls and furniture before you decide.

How Natural Stone Flooring Is Fitted

Natural stone flooring in an Esher home goes down in four stages. One room or a whole ground floor, the order is the same.

  1. Subfloor preparation. The base is made sound and level, so the stone has a solid bed to sit on.
  2. Heating integration. Where the floor is to be heated, the system is built in beneath the stone.
  3. Installation. The stone is laid to the agreed pattern, with the cuts planned around doorways and units.
  4. Sealing and surface finishing. The stone is sealed to protect it and finished ready for use.

Most single room projects take a few days, and we give you a timeline with the quote. Each stage is described on our flooring services page.

Natural Stone Tiling for Kitchens and Bathrooms

Stone tiling in Esher homes goes well beyond the floor. Our tilers fit kitchen splashbacks, feature walls, bathrooms and wet rooms in limestone, marble and travertine, and they repair and regrout tiling that is already there. See tiling services.

Underfloor Heating Installation

Underfloor heating installation for Esher homes is carried out by our own installers, who work alongside the tiling team. We fit electric and water based systems, and every limestone in our collection is suitable for use over them. More on underfloor heating.

Looking After Limestone

A sealed limestone floor is simple to keep. Sweep it regularly and wash it now and then with a pH neutral cleaner. Keep harsh supermarket cleaning products and steam mops away from it. The seal is reapplied periodically to keep the finish and the protection, and we give you care advice for the stone you have chosen.

Flooring Company

As a flooring company working in Esher, we take the floor from the base up: preparation, laying, sealing and, where it is wanted, restoration and repair of stonework that is already down. We work in period houses and new builds alike.

Tiling Company

As a tiling company, we send our own people to every Esher job. Each tiler is full time and directly employed. Our customers are homeowners, and also the interior designers, architects and developers who bring us in.

Around Esher

Esher is in the Borough of Elmbridge, with trains to London Waterloo and Sandown Park racecourse, opened in 1875, beside the town. Claremont Landscape Garden is on its southern side, Esher Common lies to the south, and the village of West End sits around its green to the south west.

Much of the housing is suburban, with many detached family houses from the 1920s and 1930s alongside larger and newer homes. We also cover neighbouring Claygate and Cobham.

Questions About Stone Floors

How do I choose between the finishes?

Start with the room and the look you want. Aged and tumbled finishes suit a relaxed or traditional room. Smooth finishes look crisp in a modern kitchen. Seeing the samples in the room itself usually settles it.

Can I see the range before you visit?

Yes. The stones in the Timeless Stone Collection are listed on our stone supply page, and the brochure opens from there. Tell us which ones you like when you get in touch, so we know which samples to bring.

Can samples be left with me to view in different light?

We bring samples to your home so you can see them in the room they are meant for. Daylight changes through the day, so it is worth looking at them by the window and further into the room. Ask us at the visit about keeping them for longer.
